Frequently Asked Questions

How many public EV chargers are there in Cambridge?
The Department for Transport counts chargers by council area, not by town or county. We count each postcode district listed for Cambridge under the council holding most of its postcodes. This selects the council areas Cambridge, East Cambridgeshire, South Cambridgeshire, Uttlesford and West Suffolk. Together they had 1,505 public EV chargers on 1 July 2026, including 416 chargers rated 50kW or more.
Which council area around Cambridge has the most chargers per person?
Cambridge had the most, with 312.7 public chargers per 100,000 people on 1 July 2026. The UK figure was 174.9.
How much does public charging cost in Cambridge?
Prices are set by each charging network, not by area, so ChargeFinder does not publish an area average. Our network pages show prices where we have checked them against the operator's website, with the month checked. Otherwise, the page says the price has not been checked or that prices vary by site.
